Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary to determine which products comply with new/revised requirements and which products will require re-evaluation. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date of January 1, 2016 unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.

Overview of Changes: Significant changes from the previous edition have been made in this publication. The majority of changes in this edition are due to the continuing efforts to synchronize the requirements for recreational vehicles in Canada and the United States of America. Specific details of new/revised requirements are found in table below.

Schedule: So that shipping of products with Listing Marks will not be interrupted, an approximate schedule has been established to ensure Listing Reports are found compliant by Effective Date:

  • January 1, 2016 = Effective Date – ATM Suspended for all non-compliant Reports

Fees: An initial review of Listing Report (s) will be covered by a direct billing project and will be invoiced at not more than $1000 per report.

Information - To assist our Intertek Engineer with review of your Certification Reports, please submit technical information in response to the new/revised paragraphs noted in the attached or explain why these new/revised requirements not apply to your product (s).

Current Listings Not Active? – Please immediately identify any current Listing Reports or products that are no longer active and should be removed from our records. We will do this at no charge as long as Intertek is notified in writing prior to the review of your reports.

CSA Z240.0.2, 

General requirements for recreational vehicles:

i) The definition of “Recreational Vehicle” has been changed, as well as re-naming “Camping Trailers” and “Slide-In-Campers”. “Camping Trailers” are renamed “Folding Camping Trailers” and “Slide-In-Campers” are renamed “Truck Campers”;
ii) the maximum length of a travel trailer has been clarified;
iii) references have been updated;
iv) Clause 5.8 has been updated to provide construction requirements for Fuel Tanks used in fuel distribution and dispensing systems in recreational vehicles which was missing from the previous edition of the standard and was covered under CSA Technical Information Letter No. RV-08; and
v) a number of warning labels have been harmonized with NFPA 1192.
 
CSA Z240.1.2, Vehicular requirements for recreational vehicles:

i) the scope of Clause 5 now includes cables, beside safety chains;
ii) the tongue load requirement has been removed and a note added;
iii) requirements for safety glazing materials have been clarified;
iv) a new requirement for pre-shipment checks; and
v) requirements for body work and GVWR have been removed.
 
CSA Z240.3.2, Plumbing requirements for recreational vehicles:

i) the requirement for the floor area under a water closet and the 150 mm (6”) around the fixture to be made impervious to moisture has been removed;
ii) a new requirement has been added for glazing of shower doors and enclosures;
iii) the requirement for road damage has been modified to remove numerical values, and a figure has been added;
iv) several changes to the venting requirements; and
v) new requirements have been added for the water distribution, drain waste, and shower stall tests including an increase on the duration of some tests.
 
CSA Z240.4.2, Installation requirements for propane appliances and equipment in recreational vehicles:

i) a new requirement has been added for maximum container capacities;
ii) new requirements have been added for regulators;
iii) restrictions for branch outlet joints within the living space have been removed; and
iv) a number of warning labels have been harmonized with NFPA 1192.
 
CSA Z240.6.2 / C22.2 No. 148, Electrical requirements for recreational vehicles:

i) the requirements for placement of panelboard have been modified; and
ii) the restriction on the placement of receptacles in cupboards or cabinets have been removed.
